SIPO released the IPR statistics after its reorganization
The State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) held the Q3 press conference on July 10 in Beijing. This is the first time for SIPO to release the statistics about patent, trademark and geographic indications after it is reorganized. It was learned from the press conference that in the first half of 2018, China achieved fast growth in terms of key IPR indicators and got a good momentum of development. China had 751,000 applications and 217,000 grants for invention patents, 3.586 million trademark applications and 10 new applications for protection of geographic indications.
As introduced, there are four characteristics reflected from the main statistics about patents, trademarks and geographic indications in the first half of 2018.
First, progress has been achieved and stability ensured in China’s IPR creation and utilization.
Second, the main role of domestic enterprises in innovation continues to be strengthened.
Third, the overseas IPR applications of Chinese enterprises increase steadily.
Fourth, the domestic environment for IPR protection is further optimized.
