WIPO Widely Promotes China Madrid Trademark Online Application System

Recently, World Intellectual Property Organization(WIPO) widely promotes China Madrid trademark online application system in seven languages: Chinese, English, French, Russian, Arabic, Spanish and Japanese with title “New Electronic Application Service issued by National Intellectual Property Administration of the People’s Republic of China” of homepage of WIPO website.

According to the report, China Trademark Office has developed first Madrid trademark online application system in China, which has realized the electronic application of online Madrid trademark application, electronic notification, online correction, and online payment. It has the advantages of simple filling, automatic checking, less time consuming and data security. The report fully reflects the high concern of WIPO on China's intellectual property work, and affirmation to the new progress of China's trademark since the reorganization of the National Intellectual Property Administration.

In recent years, China Trademark Office has vigorously promoted the Madrid trademark registration system. More and more Chinese applicants strengthened intellectual property protection for their own brands through the Madrid system. In 2017, Madrid trademark applications filed by Chinese applicants reached 4,810, ranking third in the Madrid Union and reaching 4,359 in the first three quarters of 2018.
